Numbers have always been my thing. What’s not to love about multiplication tables? I love numbers so much that I often find myself adding up the numbers on license plates as I’m driving around town. I knew from a young age that I would purse a career involving numbers. I started kindergarten a year early and graduated from high school a year early so I eager to get my career on track.
It wasn’t until my senior year of college that I decided the career path for me was to become a CPA. I switched jobs my senior year from being a nanny to working with a CPA as an office assistant because, well…changing diapers and making the best grilled cheese this side of the Mississippi wasn’t exactly good job experience to put down on a resume. I absolutely loved the work I was doing at the CPA office and made plans to make it my profession.
I graduated with my BA in Economics and moved from Las Vegas to Hoquiam, WA after I was tricked into thinking that the sun actually existed in the Great North West. Once I was here, I found a full time job at a local CPA firm and started my path to obtain my CPA license. I enrolled with an online MBA program to finish my education. Hoping I could get some help to pay for the expensive education costs, I applied for a scholarship from the WSCPA. I was picked to receive a $1,000 scholarship!
After I received my MBA degree in 2009, I immediately started to study for the CPA exam. I am happy to say that I have passed all of the exams and literally received my license number earlier this afternoon. I am with the same CPA firm that I started with in Washington and love where I am at.
I would like to thank all of the WSCPA personnel who believed in me and gave me an opportunity. Numbers have always been my thing and now I can enjoy them everyday of my life.
