Did you know that you are required as a Washington CPA to take an ethics course as part of your tri-annual license renewal? And did you know that you can only take ethics courses that have been approved by the State Board? There are CPAs that did not realize these requirements exist and they found out the hard way that they were not in compliance to renew their license this year.
They realized all of this when they went to renew their license through the new Washington State Board of Accountancy online CPA license renewal. The renewal requires the CPA to choose the ethics vendor they completed the course through. All of the vendors are in a drop down box for the CPA to choose from. There is no option for fill in the blank because the State Board has to pre-approve the provider and since they pre-approve the provider they know exactly who should be in the drop down box. I have included the link to the list of approved courses.
So, make sure you go to the list or call me and affirm your choice of ethics course. Or you will find yourself, like some of your counterparts, paying a fine and scrambling to find a suitable ethics course.
