The Seattle PI reported yesterday that hackers used Wi-Fi systems to target businesses and steal their data. They were specifically looking to steal personal data on clients and employees, along with money. Once they had the information, they used it to commit identity theft.
The police reported that the thieves used multiple methods to access the information, including physically stealing computers and “wardriving. Wardriving allows hackers to penetrate a system remotely and watch for information that can reveal weakness in the security. The stealth nature of this attack is scary for businesses and their clients. Businesses need to do what they can build up their arsenal.
