According to the ACFE Report to the Nations, organizations with strong anti-fraud controls experience significantly lower losses and faster fraud detection. Yet, more than half of fraud cases occur due to a lack of internal controls or the override of existing ones. This session will explore how internal controls serve as a critical line of defense against fraud. Attendees will learn how fraud is commonly detected, the key behavioral, organizational, and documentation red flags, and which anti-fraud measures are most effective. The session will also provide a practical overview of the five components of the COSO Internal Control Framework and how they can be applied to strengthen fraud prevention efforts.
