Meet the New WSCPA Board of Directors for 2016-2017!

Please welcome the 2016-2017 WSCPA Board of Directors! Learn a little more about each board member below.

David-Miniken-WSCPA-Board-Chair Chair: David J. Miniken, CPA, CGMA, MBA, is a member of the management team and the director of the audit and accounting practice of Sweeney Conrad, P.S. in Bellevue. Dave has 20 years of experience providing all phases of audit and financial accounting advisory services to a wide range of industries and to a diverse group of privately-held businesses and their owners. He has served in leadership positions with a number of civic organizations, including the Bellevue Downtown Association, Bellevue Rotary, and the Bellevue Schools Foundation.
Thomas-Donaghy-WSCPA-Board-Vice-Chair Vice Chair: Thomas G. Donaghy, CPA, is an investment officer and financial advisor in Bellingham, Washington. For over 15 years Tom has helped clients in the Puget Sound area make wise financial decisions through education and disciplined investment planning. Previously, Tom was a Financial Consultant with Smith Barney, a Financial Analyst at Boeing Corporate Headquarters, and Resident Audit Manager for Puget Sound Bancorp in Tacoma. A graduate of Seattle University, Tom is an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Northwest Business Club, and is Team Captain for the “Big Climb,” a fundraising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Joseph-Smith-WSCPA-Board-Secretary Secretary: Joseph Paul Smith, CPA, CGMA, is the Associate Vice President for Finance at Gonzaga University. Prior to joining Gonzaga, Joe was a Senior Manager in the audit practice of KPMG LLP in Seattle. Joe began his public accounting career with Arthur Andersen LLP. He is an Adjunct Professor of accounting at Gonzaga’s School of Business Administration, and also serves as a board member for Catholic Housing Communities (a division of Catholic Charities of Spokane) and RiteCare of Washington. Joe is a graduate of Gonzaga University and Palomar College.
Kirsten-Duke-WSCPA-Board-Treasurer Treasurer: Kirsten Simpson Duke, CPA, CGMA, is the VP of Finance and Human Resources of DomainTools. A graduate of the University of Washington, Kirsten began her career at Ernst & Young in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services Practice. After nine years in public accounting, Kirsten moved on to serve as Director of Technical Accounting for Getty Images, as well as Controller of a small public biotechnology company in Bothell. Kirsten’s previous volunteer activities include President of the Sauvage Healing Heart Guild, Board Member and Finance Chair of the Hope Heart Institute, as well as Finance, Long Range Planning and Investment committees at the Seattle Yacht Club.
William-Simer-WSCPA-Board-Immediate-Past-Chair Immediate Past Chair: William A. Simer, CPA, is a partner with the Spokane office of Eide Bailly LLP. With more than 35 years of experience in both public accounting and industry, Bill has held key leadership positions in many community organizations, including Greater Spokane Incorporated, the Spokane Symphony, and the Fox Theater. He currently is the immediate past chair of the Eastern Washington University Foundation and serves on the board of the Inland Northwest Community Foundation.
Erika-Cecilia-Amezquita-Hosea-WSCPA-Board-Member Erika Cecilia Amezquita Hosea, CPA, CGMA, is President of Elite Strategies, LLC. She began her career with KPMG implementing full-scale enterprise solutions for Fortune 500 organizations. Thereafter, she developed her career in the telecom and transportation sectors, most notably T-Mobile, Inc. and Alaska Airlines, Inc. Her bi-cultural background and focus on community collaboration has led her to a number of volunteer opportunities and community leadership roles. Erika is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and studied abroad at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
Dawn-Esther-Beck-WSCPA-Board-Member Dawn Esther Beck, CPA, is the Controller for the Seattle Art Museum. She is a Seattle native and a graduate of the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. She has 20 years of experience in both public accounting and private industry. Before joining SAM, Dawn specialized primarily in the restaurant and food manufacturing industries, including experience at the Space Needle, Wild Ginger/Triple Door, and the Redhook Ale Brewery.
Justin-Bourn-WSCPA-Board-Member Justin A. Bourn, CPA, is the Director of Accounting at Willett, Zevenbergen & Bennett. Prior to joining Willett, Zevenbergen & Bennett, Justin worked in industry for approximately nine years after beginning his career at an international accounting firm. Justin currently serves on the WSCPA’s Engagement Report Acceptance Body and is an active engagement peer reviewer. He is also a member of the University of Washington Alumni Association Board of Trustees.
Robert-Heller-WSCPA-Board-Member Robert W. Heller, JD, LLM, is a tax shareholder at Clark Nuber, P.S. in Bellevue. Bob has over twenty-six years of experience in Washington State, multistate, and state tax controversy client matters. Bob provides advisory services to clients in healthcare, life sciences, high-tech, e-commerce, manufacturing, real estate and other industries. Having also served as the Senior Assistant Director for Tax Policy at the Washington Department of Revenue, Bob brings a unique perspective to tax consulting. Bob is a regular conference speaker on topics related to state and local taxation and is on the faculty of the Summer Tax Institute, Center for State and Local Taxation at the University of California Davis.
Brett-Jordan-WSCPA-Board-Member Brett James Jordan, CPA, is a senior internal auditor for Russell Investments. He leads Russell’s Internal Audit testing of internal controls over financial reporting as the key point of contact with company personnel and external auditors. Prior to joining Russell Investments in 2013, he was a Senior Auditor with the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services group for Deloitte, specializing in audits of various financial institutions. Brett serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Washington CPA Foundation, Treasurer of the Municipal League of King County, and Board Member of the Alumni Association of Western Washington University. In 2012 he was selected as Washington’s New Professional of the Year awarded by the Washington Society of CPAs and in 2013 was selected to attend the American Institute of CPAs Leadership Academy.
Mary-Joyce-WSCPA-Board-Member Mary E. Joyce, CPA, is a shareholder at The Myers Associates, PC, and has been with the firm for more than 30 years. She has focused her practice on serving local, not-for-profit entities for the last 25 years. Her firm specializes in audits, reviews, compilations, and tax preparation for not-for-profit entities. She currently serves as Treasurer for Leadership Tomorrow, is a 1996 graduate of that program, and has been a member of the Washington Society of CPAs Nonprofit Committee since its inception. Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, cum laude, from the University of Washington.
Kris-Lambright-WSCPA-Board-Member Kris Lambright, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer for YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish. She has been with the YWCA since 1999, CFO since 2004. Kris oversees accounting, payroll, risk management, investments, and management information systems. Her prior work experience included government, public, and private industry accounting. Kris is a trustee with College Spark Washington, volunteers for Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program, and is active in the WSCPA’s Not-for-Profit Committee. She was recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal as CFO of the Year in 2009. She is a graduate of the University of Washington.
Amanda-ORourke-WSCPA-Board-Member Amanda V. O'Rourke, CPA, is a partner at Greenwood Ohlund and Company, LLP in Ballard. Amanda is a nonprofit finance specialist who assists a range of organizations with their finance and accounting needs, including audit and attest services, tax preparation and financial reporting. She earned her BA degree in Accountancy from the University of San Diego and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington. She currently serves as Chair of the board of The Seafair Foundation.
Rhonda-Powell-WSCPA-Board-Member Rhonda S. Powell, CPA, is the Firm Director of Tax for Moss Adams. She leads the firm’s tax committee, focusing on all aspects of the tax practice – clients, growth, people, and safety. She is responsible for the firm’s tax quality control policies, continuing education, and technology. Prior to becoming Firm Director of Tax, Rhonda provided tax services related to federal income tax, ASC 740 issues, accounting methods, research tax credits, international taxes, and state and local taxes. She has served small businesses as well multinational companies in a variety of industries, including technology, automotive, forest products, manufacturing, retail, and utilities.
Michael-Reeves-WSCPA-Board-Member Michael Wickersham Reeves, CPA, is the Office Managing Partner, Assurance Services for BDO’s Seattle office. Michael specializes in financial statement audits of companies primarily in the technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and venture capital industries. Michael has nearly 25 years of experience in public accounting and also worked in’s financial reporting group. Michael is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and is a member of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees, as well as its Audit Committee Chairman. He is also a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.
Abby-Sanders-WSCPA-Board-Member Abby Mae Sanders, CPA, CFE, is a partner with Petersen CPA and Advisors PLLC in Yakima. She specializes in providing consulting, tax compliance, audit, and other financial statement services to non-profit and other governmentally-funded organizations. Abby regularly performs engagement and peer reviews, and is the chair of the WSCPA Peer Review Engagement RAB. Abby also teaches non-profit accounting and auditing as an adjunct faculty member at a local university, and serves on the Board of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra.
Ronald-Tilden-WSCPA-Board-Member Ronald L. Tilden, CPA, MBA, is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Washington where he has taught accounting and business classes for the past 15 years. Ron was the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award for the Bothell campus in 2013. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1979 and began his accounting career with Deloitte. Later in his career, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Intermec Corporation and WRQ, Inc.
David-Trujillo-WSCPA-Board-Member David E. Trujillo, CPA, is the Executive Director of Washington State's Gambling Commission since 2013. His career with the Commission began in 1992, and over the years he has held positions both as an enforcement officer and as an overseer of one or more of the agency's enforcement functions. A graduate of both Western Washington University and Central Washington University, Dave is a police academy graduate, part of the National Guard Community, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, a recipient of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award and serves on the Saint Martin’s Accounting Advisory Board. In 2013-14, he was awarded the Society’s Outstanding Volunteer Leader Award and proudly displays it in his office.
