by Paul Carboni | Sep 14, 2016

You can help steer the course of the accounting profession in Washington state. Here's how: Nominate someone you know and respect for the Washington Society of CPAs Board of Directors for 2017-2018!

Service on the WSCPA Board is one of the strongest and most direct impacts a member can make to benefit and advance Washington’s community of CPAs. Board members are instrumental in creating the strategy and setting the policies to enable the Society to fulfill its mission to maximize the value of the CPA profession for members and the public.

In addition to networking opportunities and personal prestige, members of the Board enjoy a strong sense of personal satisfaction from working to promote the wellbeing of the accounting profession in general and the CPA designation in particular.

The Board meets five times a year. Additionally, members serve on board committees and are encourage to attend other Society functions throughout the year. Board members work to ensure that the WSCPA senior staff have the moral, professional, and intellectual support needed to further the objectives of the organization. Successful nominees will also possess the ability to articulate the WSCPA’s mission, services, accomplishments, and goals to the public, as well as garner support from important members of the community.

“The WSCPA is strongest when its leadership mirrors our membership—that is, when the board of directors is comprised of CPAs from all across the state and when they represent a mix of members from public practice, private industry, government and education,” said the WSCPA’s current Chair of the Board of Directors, Dave Miniken. “I encourage you to nominate somebody you know to serve on the WSCPA Board. I know from personal experience that it will be one of the highlights of their professional career.”
