Introducing the WSCPA's Newest Affiliate Membership Category

by Paul Carboni | Oct 11, 2017

The Washington Society of CPAs is proud to announce a new affiliate membership category for non-CPA accounting and finance professionals working at business, government, or nonprofit organizations!

The benefits of membership are many, but here are few of the big ones:

  • Gain a deeper connection with your peers by serving on committees, planning chapter events, and attending networking opportunities.
  • Accelerate your professional and career development with free and discounted CPE.
  • Get the information you need to keep up-to-date on the professional changes that will affect you.

View all the benefits WSCPA members enjoy here.

I'm Interested. How Do I Join?

  1. First, make sure you qualify. Qualified individuals will be working in a finance or accounting role for a business, government, or nonprofit organization and will agree to abide by the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.
  2. Individuals applying for membership in this new category also need one more thing: a regular CPA member of the WSCPA to sponsor you. You will be asked to enter the name of your sponsor when you fill out the online application.

What Does Sponsorship Mean?

Sponsorship only means that a regular CPA member of the WSCPA verifies that the prospective member's current job meets the criteria for membership eligibility and that the prospective member agrees to abide by the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. That's it. After the sponsored member is accepted into the WSCPA, the regular CPA member has no additional responsibility as a sponsor. You are not responsible for making sure that the sponsored member stays in a qualifying position or adheres to the code of conduct.

When you agree to be a sponsor, all you have to do is tell the prospective member you are sponsoring. They will put your name down when they apply. No other action is needed on your part.

Special Discount for New Members & Prize Drawing for Sponsors

To celebrate this new membership category, the Society is offering a special membership rate of $150 to non-CPA accounting and finance professionals working in industry, government, or nonprofit who join by November 30. Just enter coupon code WELCOME during checkout.

But new members aren't getting all the fun. All regular CPA members who are named as sponsors by November 30 will be entered into a drawing for one of three $100 Amazon™ gift cards!

Ready for the Next Step?

If you're ready to join the WSCPA, click here to start your application. If you know someone you'd like to sponsor and want to tell them about this new opportunity, send them an email! We've even written up a sample email (below) you can use to get started.

The WSCPA is now accepting non-CPA finance and accounting professionals working for business, government, and nonprofit organizations. I think you’d be a good fit for WSCPA membership, and I’d like to sponsor you for membership. Let me know if you’re interested, or if you have any questions.
