Manager of Strategic Relations

Position: Manager of Strategic Relations
Reports to: VP of Membership and Education
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Hybrid, mix of office (Bellevue), home, and in-person visits with firms and companies

Firm & Industry Outreach (50%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with accounting firms, Fortune 500 companies, high-growth startups, large nonprofits, and other accounting services employers.
  • Build and maintain rapport with senior finance leaders, controllers, CFOs, and accounting managers in corporate environments.
  • Develop an annual outreach plan and sales goals targeting public accounting firms and industry employers to expand WSCPA membership and engagement.
  • Build relationships with emerging firms, high-growth businesses, and key employers to uncover challenges and opportunities, ensuring WSCPA offerings evolve in step with the profession’s changing landscape.
  • Represent WSCPA at firm orientations, conferences, and industry CPE presentations, and networking events as needed.
  • Work with the Membership Team to design onboarding materials tailored to corporate CPAs, highlighting relevant benefits and engagement pathways.

Programming & Engagement (20%)

  • Partner with the Education Director to capture the interests of industry-track professionals and translate them into relevant CPE and professional development programming.
  • Nominate outstanding corporate CPAs for WSCPA awards and facilitate recognition at events.
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for firms and companies exploring WSCPA’s in-house training and team development solutions.

Sponsorship & Partner Collaboration (20%)

  • Develop and execute an annual sponsorship sales plan that sets revenue targets, identifies new sponsor prospects, and strengthens existing partnerships to sustain WSCPA programs and events.
  • Partner with technology vendors, consulting firms, and financial services providers to develop joint programming and sponsorships relevant to CPAs in business and industry.
  • Coordinate with the Events Team to implement sponsor strategies and manage activation logistics, ensuring seamless fulfillment and a high-quality experience for both sponsors and attendees across all WSCPA conferences and events.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Membership to provide feedback on affinity partner agreements, identifying opportunities to refresh or expand offerings to better serve members.

Reporting & Administration (5%)

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of membership, sponsorship, and industry outreach activities.
  • Create and manage reporting dashboards on membership growth, industry engagement, and sponsor activity.
  • Provide regular updates to the VP of Membership and Education on progress toward strategic goals.

OTHER (5%)

  • Understands and demonstrates WSCPA culture, values and attributes.
  • Utilize project management and meeting platforms to manage project work and communicate with other staff. 
  • Create, maintain, and update position timeline and procedures associated with this position, annually. 
  • Represent the organization at company sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field or the equivalent in educational training and/or work experience.
  • 2+ years in member/sponsor engagement, business development or sales.
  • Experience working in or with professional services firms is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly in Washington state (50%), must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Experience assisting with or managing budgets, including preparing reports and monitoring expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Basic knowledge of Budgeting

  • Self-sufficient, able to manage time and workload with minimal supervision.

  • Consistently delivers exceptional customer service.
  • High level of relationship-building skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization at WSCPA and at other companies.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.

About Us: WSCPA is a professional membership association serving CPAs throughout Washington since 1904. Our office is in Bellevue, Washington. We offer a hard-to-beat benefit package which includes a 37.5-hour work week, flexible scheduling, telecommuting and free parking. Employees are covered by medical (with EAP), dental, vision, flexible spending account, long term disability, and life insurance. Employees are encouraged to enroll in our organization’s 401(k) plan, as well as our discretionary profit-sharing plan subject to eligibility and vesting. Employees also receive 18 days of PTO annually, and 11 paid holidays throughout the year. We are currently working hybrid; this position requires the ability to come into the office.

Compensation: This full-time, 37.5 hours per week position is a FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) Exempt position. The hiring salary is $80,000 per year. The full wage range for this position is $69,095 to $96,733.
