The CPA profession is evolving - fast. Expectations are shifting, complexity is increasing, and the path forward demands more than technical expertise. It demands clarity, leadership, and community.
The 2026 WSCPA Membership Summit is designed for this moment.
This is not a traditional conference. It's a one-day experience built around the conversations that matter most—grounded in real data, shaped by national voices, and designed to help you lead with confidence through what comes next.
You'll start with a clear-eyed economic outlook, then move into forward-looking conversations on professional readiness, legislative change, emerging risk, and the future of CPA readiness. This year, we've intentionally designed the day around 7 in person CPE hours—not 8—because we've heard from you that the most valuable learning happens between sessions, not in them. More breathing room. More real conversation. More connection.
Be inspired as Bobby Dutton takes you to 35,000 feet.
In this engaging keynote, this aviation expert reveals how the decision-making systems pilots rely on under pressure translate directly to the high-stakes environment CPAs navigate every day. Calm under fire. Situational awareness. Systems that keep small mistakes from becoming big problems. This session doesn't just inspire—it gives you tools you'll actually use.
The day closes with a session on communicating the true value of your work- walking you through how to tell your story, followed by a hosted networking reception.
You'll leave with:
- Practical tools for leadership, decision-making, and resilience
- Insight into the economic, legislative, and risk forces shaping your profession
- Stronger connections across firms, career stages, and areas of practice
- A first look at two new WSCPA communities built for where you are right now
- 7.0 CPE hours — plus a free 1-hour follow-up webinar available to all attendees
At WSCPA, your greatest return isn't just on education - it's on involvement.

Bobby DuttonBobby Dutton
Bobby Dutton is a professional speaker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He’s also a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor – for fun.
As the founder of GBM6, he has spent over 20 years designing high-energy events that do more than entertain—they bring people together in memorable ways that create real impact.
Bobby’s pioneering work on event design has won him awards internationally, and he was voted one of the “Top 25 Young Event Pros to Watch” by Special Events Magazine.
After 20+ years of navigating high-stress situations as a business owner and event producer, Bobby found calm in an unlikely place: in the sky. He now teaches these aviation-inspired decision-making tools to thousands through events, keynotes, and workshops.
In addition, he helps teams and leaders work smarter, move faster, and thrive under pressure. Drawing on insights from event production, engineering, music, and aviation, Bobby provides guidance in time management, team efficiency, and building a culture of creativity.
When a pilot encounters turbulence at 35,000 feet, panic isn’t an option. Training, systems, and disciplined thinking take over.
Accounting professionals today operate in a similar environment. Decisions must be made quickly, information is often incomplete, and the margin for error is small.
In this keynote, Bobby explores how the same systems pilots use to monitor performance and detect risk can be applied to people, teams, and culture. Drawing from his work and real-world case studies, he introduces a new way to think about visibility into workload, stress, and overall team health.
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify early warning signs of burnout and disengagement before they impact performance
- Create visibility into workload, stress, and team capacity—your own “dashboard” for culture
- Use simple systems and signals to monitor risk across teams, not just projects
- Shift from reactive management to proactive leadership by spotting patterns early
- Lead with clarity and confidence in environments where pressure is constant
Whether you're in the cockpit or leading a team, the principle is the same: the professionals who succeed are the ones who can see what others miss—and act before it’s too late.

- The Story You're (Not) Telling: How to Talk About Your Work Without Hiding It's Value
Michael HidalgoMichael Hidalgo
Michael Hidalgo is the Founder and CEO of Speaker Smith, where he helps people find, shape, and share their story with clarity and confidence. For more than 25 years, he has spoken to over 50,000 people and worked with leaders and teams across the country, guiding them through the real challenges of communication, change, and building healthy, effective cultures.
His work sits at the intersection of story and strategy. With a background in film and screenwriting, Michael approaches communication differently. He doesn’t just teach what to say, but how to say it in a way that people actually hear, understand, and remember. His keynotes and workshops are known for being thoughtful, engaging, and immediately useful.
Whether he’s working with executives, teams, or large audiences, Michael’s goal is simple. Help people see their work more clearly, communicate it more effectively, and walk away with something they can use right away.
Most CPAs don’t struggle with confidence or competence. They struggle with something much simpler and more costly. When someone asks what they do, they give an answer that’s accurate and completely forgettable. Not because the work lacks meaning, but because they never learned how to talk about it in a way that actually reflects the value they bring. Over time, that gap doesn’t just affect conversations. It shapes how the profession is seen and who feels drawn to it.
This session is about closing that gap. Not by turning people into performers, but by helping them see their work differently and how to talk about it effectively. This interactive keynote will explore why story isn’t a soft skill or a communication trick, but something much deeper. It’s how people make sense of information. It’s how trust is built. It’s how meaning travels. When a story is told well, people don’t just understand what you do, they feel why it matters. And that changes everything.
By the end, attendees will have a simple, personal way to talk about their work that feels natural, clear, and true to them. Not a script, but a story they can use whether in a client conversation, with a colleague, or with someone trying to decide if this profession is worth stepping into. Done well, this kind of story doesn’t just describe the work. It restores a sense of pride in it and quietly invites others to see themselves in it too.
