Overview
Yellow Book and Single Audit engagements are considered must-select engagements for peer review. This course will review the common deficiencies noted by peer reviewers and federal agencies. We’ll focus on the requirements of Yellow Book independence, CPE, and reporting. We will also review deficiencies related to internal controls over compliance, compliance testing, and major program determination for Single Audits. We’ll close the course with a look at the deficiencies often identified in COVID-related funds.

Alexandria Romero, Galasso Learning Solutions LLC
Alex brings nearly two decades of experience in governmental and nonprofit accounting to her role at Galasso Learning Solutions, where she helps develop governmental training programs. Known for her engaging presentation style and ability to make complex topics accessible, she is a sought-after educator in the field. Her dedication has earned her recognition as one of the Top 50 Women in Accounting in 2022 and 2023, as well as the AICPA’s Outstanding Young CPA Award in 2022.
Before joining GLS, Alex has worked as CFO and Director of Finance for governmental entities and as an auditor for a public accounting firm. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from Colorado State University. Committed to advancing the profession, she serves on the AICPA Council and the Governmental Performance Accountability Committee. Additionally, she is the Vice President of the Educational Foundation Board of Trustees for the Colorado Society of CPAs and a member of their Young Professional Council. A Disney and running enthusiast, Alex completed the 48.6-mile Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World in January 2024.
