WSCPA Member Named NASBA 2018-19 Vice Chair

On Friday, May 4, 2018, the Nominating Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) announced Laurie J. Tish, CPA, of Seattle, Washington, as candidate for the office of NASBA vice chair, 2018-19.

Laurie Tish has been actively involved with NASBA since 2003, and presently serves on NASBA’s Awards Committee. She has also served as Pacific regional director, director-at-large, and on the Executive Committee during her nine-year tenure on the NASBA Board of Directors. Additionally, Tish is a former chair of the Accountancy Licensee Database, Global Strategies and Uniform Accountancy Act Committees, and a past member of NASBA’s Standard-Setting Advisory, Strategic Initiatives, Relations with Member Boards and Nominating Committees, and the Government Agency Referral and Mobility Task Force.

Tish is a partner with Moss Adams LLP and serves as the national practice leader for government services. She has expertise in governmental accounting and auditing, municipal finance, regulatory accounting and reporting, and federal compliance audits. She also specializes in auditing and verifying corporate sustainability reports, including social and personnel matters, production and greenhouse gas emissions.

Tish is a nationally-recognized speaker on topics such as corporate sustainability, government accounting and auditing standards, federal compliance and corporate governance. She recently completed a three-year term on the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee and has also served as a technical reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association. She has been an active member of the WSCPA Government Accounting and Auditing Committee for many years and has served on various committees and task forces.

Tish is a graduate of the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington with a BA in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting. She holds a license to practice public accounting in the states of Washington and Vermont, and in the Territory of American Samoa. Laurie serves on several civic boards and is a past recipient of the WSCPA Lifetime Achievement Award.
