Competitiveness & Public Policy Survey

May 26, 2026

The WSCPA has launched a Competitiveness & Public Policy Survey for Washington CPAs in public accounting. This survey focuses on several tax policy issues that have been top of mind in recent months, including client migration trends, the millionaires’ tax, estate tax concerns, and related competitiveness issues affecting Washington businesses and residents.

During the legislative session, the WSCPA received numerous questions from legislators about what CPAs were observing regarding reports of individuals and businesses leaving the state. The goal of this survey is to help provide policymakers with broader insight grounded in the experiences of Washington CPAs, moving the conversation beyond anecdotal examples.

This survey should take about 10 minutes to complete and uses general ranges and estimates, so there is not a need to provide client-specific information. Survey results will be shared with WSCPA members through the blog and may also be used in discussions with legislators and the broader business community around Washington tax policy and economic competitiveness.

The survey will remain open through June 19.

If you have questions about the survey or suggestions for future surveys, please include them at the end of the survey or contact Mike Nelson by email.
