• What You Need to Know About Your First Job Search

    U.S. employers pulled back on hiring in April, adding just 160,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This was below what most analysts had expected. The BLS also noted that job gains for February and Marchwere 19,000 less than previously reported. Taking the adjustments into account, employers have added 769,000 positions since the start of the year, for an average of 192,000 jobs per month in 2016. That compares to 205,000 jobs per month, on average, at this time last year.

  • 2015 Elijah Watt Sells Award Recipients Include Washington CPA Candidate

    The American Institute of CPAs has recognized Washington State CPA Candidate Samuel Crosby as a winner of the 2015 Elijah Watt Sells Award. The award is bestowed upon candidates who have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, passed all four sections of the Examination on their first attempt and completed testing in 2014.

ESHB2433 provided firm mobility across Washington State lines and brought the definition of attest in Washington State into closer conformity with the Uniform Accountancy Act.

It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that most business professionals assume “more” improves communication too.   • In Memoriam: Ralph W. Garhart, WSCPA Past Board Chair

    Ralph William Garhart passed away peacefully on February 3, 2016 at the age of 93. He was born on November 21, 1922 in Portland Oregon to Ralph W. Garhart Sr. and Elizabeth Monteith Garhart. His family moved to Roseburg Oregon in 1929 where his father died in 1931. He was raised by his widowed mother, a caring dedicated Registered Nurse, and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1940.
